When does Second Street serve meals?

Second Street and Hope serves a meal every Wednesday evening before Celebrate Recovery at 6:30, and every Saturday evening at 5:00.

What is SSH inclement weather policy?

Second Street and Hope follows Frederick County Public Schools inclement weather closings

When should I drop off donations?

Clothing or food donations can be dropped off Wednesday from 5pm – 8pm, or Saturday from 4pm-9pm

Who should I contact about volunteering?

If you are interested in volunteering please call our contact number and leave your name and return phone number.  Someone will get back to you within 48 hours

What food items should I donate to SSH?

Currently we are accepting donations of non-perishable food such as: canned meats, - tuna, chicken, roast beef, turkey, spam, Vienna sausages; dry breakfast cereals, vegetables, fruits, boxed macaroni and cheese, and other items. We ask that you please check all expiration dates on cans & boxes. All food is not distributed immediately

Along with food items we are also collecting personal hygiene, baby & laundry items: toothpaste, deodorant, powder, lotion, razors, shaving cream, bath soap, individually wrapped & small packs of toilet paper, soap powder, and fabric softener sheets, no liquid please.  NO MOUTHWASH PLEASE!  We are one of the few places left in Frederick County that offer free diapers and baby needs when we have them available

What types of clothing items should I donate to SSH?

Currently we are accepting clean new & lightly used sleeping bags and blankets.  We also accept mats and plastic tarps as well for distribution.

We are currently accepting winter coats for children, women, & men, especially men’s X-Large and larger sized coats.

We are asking that any other clothing donations be made to other local non-profits for distribution
